Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for more volunteers!  Members who are involved are essential to our organization.  Volunteering with MNHIMA is a great way to build your leadership skills, expand your professional network, and give back to your profession.

Volunteer Opportunities

 

Advocacy & Collaboration Committee

Responsibilities include informing the membership of state and federal legislation pertaining to health information, acting as a leadership resource for MNHIMA on legislative issues, and serve as a liaison to the legislature and other healthcare organizations.  Members will join and monitor StateTrack on legislative issues affecting HIM.

Annual Meeting Committee

Responsible for all Annual Meeting functions, including developing agendas, contacting speakers for education sessions, facilitating the silent auction, and working with the location regarding logistical details of the meeting.  Members also assist with assembling materials for the meeting, introducing speakers, acting as room monitors during the conference, and assisting with attendee registration.

Coding & Data Quality Committee

Provides optimal coding education, networking, and resources for MNHIMA members.  Members maintain current knowledge on coding issues and disseminate coding information to the MNHIMA membership.  They will also take an active role with AHIMA to be involved in coding and reimbursement issues.  Members attend coding leadership meetings and educational opportunities, and respond to coding/reimbursement questions posted to the MN Engage Community.

Legal Manual Committee

Assists in making revisions to the MNHIMA Legal Resource Manual and monitors changes in state and federal legislation affecting the content areas of the Legal Resource Manual.

Marketing and Communications Committee

Assists in promoting member engagement through distribution of communication via MNHIMA’s email, printed materials, electronic newsletter, website, and social media platforms. Helps to maintain positive vendor relations, including recruitment of sponsorships and exhibitors for the Annual Meeting.
