This includes psychiatric hospitals and other inpatient mental health treatment facilities; inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities; dental clinics, group homes, vocational sites, and sex offender treatment facilities.

Job Description:

*This position is part-time, day shift*
Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our Dental Faribault/Southern Cities Clinic Team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a Medical Records Technician 2! This position will plan and direct activities related to medical records and support operations at the Southern Cities Clinic.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain patient medical records and coordinate record keeping ensuring all medical records are complete and accurate so practitioners have efficient access to patient information.
  • Supervise and coordinate the collection and dissemination of patient information.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and maintain the correction process for Electronic Health Records (EHR) corrections.
  • Pull and prepare psychiatric schedules for practitioners prior to the patient’s scheduled appointments, so that patients may be served efficiently.
  • Act as receptionist for dental and psychiatric patients so that patients receive optimal care.
  • Support billing and finance department to ensure payment of some kind for appointments of the clinic.

Required Qualifications:

Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA, formerly the American Medical Records Association)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced computer and internet skills.
  • Knowledge of hospital systems and workflow.
  • Experience working with EHR systems and data to effectively translate EHR data into meaningful outcomes.
  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records/computer systems and related software applications including MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate and present data to other professionals, including physicians, in a clear concise manner.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality improvement or patient safety.
