Telling Your Story: The Skill and Art of Resume Writing
You are unique and have skills and experiences to share with potential employers! Whether your path to this place has been a direct line or one with many curves, this presentation will provide guidance on how to effectively tell your story through strong resumes. Our presenter will share trends in the field, tips from the hiring managers, and guide you to have a resume targeted to your field focused on concrete skills.
Mary Anderson is the Director of Career Services at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. She has been with St. Scholastica for the last 18 years and prior to that worked in Academic Advisement at Iowa State University. Mary has a M.A. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Hamline University. Mary has a sincere interest in helping students find meaningful career paths and relevant experiential learning. She is energized by helping students take these experiences and effectively share them in the job search process through resumes, cover letters, interviews and social media. With humor, empathy, grace and attention to detail, she works to find the unique qualities of each person and motivates individuals to find ways to apply these talents to majors, careers and the world around them.
